Sustainability & Education
Our aim is to source the freshest fish available from our family boats to our fish farms with a view to sustainable fishing. It’s important that we support our fishermen whilst maintaining best practices and being a sustainable industry. We use fish suppliers who share the same views about the environment and sustainability.
Sustainable seafood is seafood that is either caught or farmed in ways that consider the long-term vitality of harvested species and the well-being of the oceans, as well as the livelihoods of fisheries-dependent communities.
It was first promoted through the sustainable seafood movement which began in the 1990’s.
Why is fishing good for you? It increases your Vitamin D levels – even on a cloudy day. Vitamin D is needed for calcium absorption, keeping your bones and teeth healthy!
You’ll notice at the Cripps Family Fish Farm that there are lots of Dragonflies - but don’t be alarmed! Dragonflies are harmless to people and are looked at as ‘ecological indictors’.
What that means is that the presence of dragonflies indicates fresh water and that we have a balanced ecosystem.
They play an essential role in controlling unwanted insects – especially mosquitos – and are important to our ecosystem.
How cool is that!
Bring your family down to Cripps Family Fish Farm to learn more about our beautiful ecosystems, enjoy time outside with your family fishing and relax while the kids enjoy a variety of outside activities.
"We know seafood – fish has been our business for almost 150 years"
